Slava Polunin.
Slava Polunin is generally recognized as one of the greatest living clowns. He is one of those rare artists who have climbed to the top of their chosen profession. He is the world famous mime actor. One of his most successful productions has been the "Snow Show", which began in 1996 in Britain. A well known Russian artist and fashion designer Mikhail Shemyakin made some fantastic costumes for Slava's "Snow Show".
The "Snow Show" can transform adults into wide-eyed children.
Slava was born in a small place in Central Russia. As a boy, he was fond of playing snowballs and making tunnels under the snow. In his "Snow Show" Slava realized the fantasy of his childish games as a mime actor.
Mime traditionally means acting without words. Mime artists believe that they can communicate without language — speak with their bodies. Slava Polunin believes that you can do a show without words but if it needs a word, it's better to put one in.
The "Play-Makers group", founded by Slava Polunin, is known all over Russia and the world. They have travelled through more than 20 countries. Over 25 years they have made unbelievable progress and have become a national attraction. Their theatrical characters are known to everyone in Russia. At the moment Slava is about to start on some new productions working with clowns from Britain and Russia. Polunin's show is constantly changing. Each show is different from another.

Isaac Newton / Исаак Ньютон
Newton, one of the greatest scientists of all times was born in 1642 in little village in England. His father was a farmer and died before Newton was born. His mother was a clever woman whom he always loved.
After the school, Newton studied mathematics at Cambridge University and received his degree in1665. Then the university was closed because of the danger of plague and Newton went home for eighteen months. It was most important period of his life when he made his three great discoveries - the discoveries of the differential calculations (дифференциалвычисления), of the nature of white light, and of the law of gravitation.
These discoveries are still important for the modern science. Newton had always been interested in the problems of light. Many people saw the colours of a rainbow but only Newton showed, by his experiments, that white light consists of these colours.
It is interesting how he discovered the law gravitation. Once, as he sat at the garden, his attention was drawn by the fall of an apple. Many people saw such an usual thing before. But it was Newton who asked himself a question: "Why does that apple fall perpendicularly to the ground? Why doesn't it go sidewards (боком) or upwards?" The answer to this question was the theory of gravitation, discovered by Newton.
Newton died at the age of 84, and was buried in Westminster Abbey, where his monument stands today.
